Doing Hawaii. Butt.
Marina released a video of her version of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” for CMT earlier today. Here’s the mp3.
Ripp and cover created by me. Merry Christmas everyone!

If you look at the top of the current iTunes chart, you’ll find Maroon 5, Rihanna, Gym Class Heroes, and Adele. Minus, Adele, you’ll see no real talent but an illusion of artists dressed up in auto-tune, brilliant advertising, and really bad outfits. Because of this, I was forced to dig deeper than my nation’s Top 40 to find some current pop music. Luckily, Melanie C, a former Spice Girl had just released her lastest album “The Sea” on September 4th and after sampling the whole album, I instantly became a fan.
Melanie C, also known as Melanie Chisholm or Sporty Spice, has released five solo albums, achieving over three million album sales, two number one singles, and six top 10 singles. When she was with Virgin Records, her pop style was chosen by the industry, because it was the early 2000s, and the label wanted the Spice Girls’ fans to follow her. But Melanie C needed to break out of pop and dove more into an alternative sound when she opened her own record label, Red Girl Records. Now, after evolving into her own, with “The Sea” her sound is a mixture of rock, alternative, and pop. There is something for everyone on this record. There is even one track that is 8 minutes long with a full orchestra.
A song of hers I would recommend is “Rock Me”, a single used for the German television channel ZDF for their coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011. It has a very lively beat with a lot of energy that beats any club mix out there today.
If you like artists like Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, or Evanescence, I would definitely recommend trying Melanie C, being as her sound is a mixture of those three artists (as well as being a female version of Adam Levine, having a nasal female sound). With the quality of music in today’s industry, we cannot look towards what is popular for quality music anymore. The good artists are hidden within the depths of Amazon.com, iTunes, Rasputin, etc. That is how I found Melanie C and that’s how I find all of my talent, and for her, I used the correct word: TALENT.

Truly an amazing night, I got the opportunity to be in the stage pit right by the presenters stage, feet away from every presenter and where everyone in the front seat rows got sat. I got to tell Lady Gaga a secret, I finally saw Jessie J perform live, Witnessed and sang along with Adele, and best of all, I ran into old friends.
Thank You __________ (You know who you are :).
- Raven.
PS. Thanks to my friend Brian who captured this amazing view. No cameras were allowed inside by guests.
